Mosasaurus was an aquatic carnivore lived about 70-66 million years ago. Mosasaurus were known as the ruler of Cretaceous seas. It’s a sea lizard not the dinosaurs. Fitted in long and pointed jaws, Mosasaurus has sharp and tapering 40-50 teeth. The jaw has a stretchy skull just like snakes which enables to swallow down their whole prey. Unlike predators that eat their pray by biting, they swallowed their whole prey once it was pierced. Mostly they feed on fish, turtles, ammonites, and smaller Mosasaurus and plesiosaurs. It was a reptile and had lungs for respiration. So like all other reptiles Mosasaurus had to breathe air. They come on the surface to fill their lungs with oxygen. Paddled like fins, fused body and strong straight tail help him to swim in water. Mosasaurus hid themselves by covering mud and sand around them before attacking their prey. They were known for their skillful surprise attacking powers.
