The pre historic Megalodon shark died about 1.5 million years ago because of environmental changes. The shark was considered as real king and champion of the ocean. Weigh of Megalodon shark was about 100 tons.
As Megalodon Shark was made up of Cartilage instead of bones so it created difficulty for researchers to know about the Shark. Teeth fossils can be found because they’re hard enough to reserve through geologic time and were being used to study the exact size of Megalodon shark.
It was very difficult to collect the fossils of Megaladon shark to know about its jaw’s size. Mr Bertucci a famous fossil hunter spent almost 20 years to assemble the Megaladon jaw. He found fragments of the ferocious species in the rivers of South Carolina. He gave his life in 2004 in Georgia while diving for prehistoric shark’s teeth. The jaw has four shark’s teeth that are more than 7 inches. It was about 9 feet tall and 11 feet wide. There were total 182 fossil teeth in the Megalodon’s jaw. There is a similarity between Megalodon teeth and white shark (Carcharodon circharias) teeth. But the Megalodon teeth are found larger and thicker depicting its large body size. The expected price of Megalodon jaw was set about $700,000 by Heritage Auctions in Dallas.
