Lemon shark is known because of the yellow color at its back. The superficial waters of the oceans cover this shark because of his color. For the first time it was described in 1868 and called Hypoprion brevirostris but later on it was changed to Negaprion. It belongs to family Carcharhinidae, order Carcharhiniformes and genus Negaprion.
Lemon shark is big, healthy and vigorous. The nozzle is shorter than its mouth width. It’s about 2.4 to 3.6 meters in length and a weight about 90-183 kilograms. The female lemon shark is found larger than the male. It has a flat and plane head and small eyes having a horizontal band in the center of retina that support the shark‘s visibility under the water. The habitat of lemon shark is in seaside shallow waters. Mostly they live in depth of 90 meters. They are mostly found around mangrove and coral reefs. They can also live in enclosed anchorages and even near the harbors.
